The Australian plant of the GELITA Group is located near Beaudesert, which is a small town about 80 Kilometers south of Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland.
The plant manufactures beef gelatine from fresh, hide that is supplied by abattoirs up to 700 kilometers away.
All of the gelatine is sold as edible gelatine, some 60% being supplied to the confectionery industry, the remainder being used in jelly crystal and dairy applications.
This high protein food is used in Lola’s recipes to replace Xanthan gum that contains heavy metals arsenic and lead. It contains preservative 220 that dissipates on heating. If cold dishes require a gel and you are sensitive to 220, then use agar powder.
